As someone who is known for speaking her mind, I appreciate leaders who are willing to listen. I don’t give my support lightly, and I certainly don’t base it on friendship, popularity, or politics. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work closely with Jim on a variety of issues. He has taken the initiative to understand the challenges facing families involved with Family Court and the DCYF, and he's become a thoughtful advocate for legislation affecting children & families. His willingness to study difficult issues, listen to those with firsthand experience, and speak publicly on behalf of vulnerable children demonstrates the kind of leadership our House needs.

What I value most is Jim understands that the New Hampshire House is bigger than any one person. We are temporary stewards of an institution that has served our state for generations. I don’t endorse people just because they’re liberty oriented. I endorse people who have the courage to stand on principle, even when it’s unpopular. That’s why I’m proud to support Jim Kofalt for Speaker.

I first met Jim through the 603 Alliance when I was learning what it meant to run for office. He wasn’t just teaching campaign skills; he was investing in future legislators. He took the time to answer questions, explain difficult concepts, and make sure candidates understood both the process and the responsibility of serving.

That’s who Jim is. He genuinely wants others to succeed. More importantly, it was clear that Jim’s conservative principles are grounded in a deep respect for liberty, personal responsibility, individual rights, and limited government.

Jim and I have worked together on legislation protecting women’s spaces. I’m as conservative as they come. As conservatives, we often talk about the importance of principle. But character matters too. One of the things I respect most about Jim is that he understands the difference between leading people and controlling them.

Over the years, there have been times when I have disagreed with others in leadership or voted differently than some may have preferred. Those moments can tell you a lot about a person’s character. Jim never treated me differently because of a disagreement. He never tried to bully me, pressure me, or make me feel unwelcome because I had reached a different conclusion. He treated me with respect, even when we didn’t see eye to eye.

That may not sound like much, but in politics it matters. Representatives are elected to think for themselves and vote their conscience. The best leaders understand that. Jim understands that.

Jim is a true conservative, but he also recognizes that the Speaker’s responsibility is to serve the entire House. He is open, honest, approachable, and willing to listen. He respects differences of opinion and understands that disagreement does not have to become division.

What gives me the greatest confidence in Jim is that I know he is running for Speaker for the right reasons. This is not about ambition or title. Jim and I have known each other personally since our days serving our communities on the Nashua Regional Planning Commission. He's affable, collegial and thoughtful. As we all know, the 2025 New Hampshire State Budget walked a very turbulent path to the Governor's Desk. During moments of Caucus chaos, controversy and confusion, there was one, true clarion voice working within the Caucus to get the budget to Governor Ayotte. It was Jim. His leadership skills were on full display to the Caucus: calm, yet collected; cajoling, yet conciliatory. Throughout those tumultuous moments, there was no better listener and no better uniter of the Caucus than Jim. Consequently, the House passed that budget because of Jim's ability to work with people to get the job done!

The endorsement anecdotes lauding Jim's character and demeanor are beyond refute, and I wholeheartedly agree with them. Ultimately, Jim's consistent leadership during this past session and the budget votes has earned him the privilege of wielding the Speaker'sgavel from the rostrum. Without any hesitation or reservation, I unequivocally support Jim for Speaker. In 2028 and beyond, there is no one better equipped to unite and lead our Caucus, the House Republicans,
and the institution.

I’ve experienced the failures of Family Court firsthand. I’ve also met with countless parents, grandparents, foster families, and advocates who simply want a system that puts the best interests of children first. Too often, it feels like I’m fighting this battle alone.

In my experience, these concerns have too often been dismissed by leadership. I’ve heard comments suggesting these are “just parents who are upset because they lost their Family Court case.” I’ve watched legislators and advocates be talked down to instead of being heard. When that happens, meaningful reform never has a chance.

Jim Kofalt has been different from the very beginning.

He doesn’t dismiss people because an issue is difficult or controversial. He listens. He asks thoughtful questions. He takes the time to understand the facts, even with everything else on his plate. And once he understands an issue, he doesn’t let it become just another talking point. He rolls up his sleeves and gets to work.

If we’re serious about improving outcomes for children and bringing greater accountability to DCYF and Family Court, we need a Speaker who is willing to lead—not just talk about it.

In my opinion, if Jim Kofalt is not elected Speaker, these issues will continue to be pushed aside. We’ve heard promises before. Jim is the one I’ve seen put in the time, ask the hard questions, and work toward real solutions.

New Hampshire’s children and families deserve more than good intentions. They deserve leadership that listens, learns, and takes action. That’s why I’m proud to endorse Jim Kofalt for Speaker.

I don’t usually endorse candidates, but I think this election matters, and that’s why I’m supporting Jim Kofalt to be our next Speaker of the House.

Jim and I have worked together for years. We were early leaders in the fight against vaccine mandates, standing up for medical freedom when it wasn’t popular. While some people were skeptical, our concerns have been validated as more facts come to light. Leadership requires the willingness to challenge conventional wisdom. That’s not always easy, but it’s critically important.

Too often we’re told certain topics are off limits because they’re considered too controversial. Jim doesn’t inflame people or make them feel attacked. He presents the facts, explains why they matter, and helps people see another perspective. That’s an invaluable skill when you’re trying to move good legislation forward.

Jim has also been a dedicated member of the Vaccine Injury Caucus and continues that work today through the Medical Freedom Caucus. He has consistently worked to educate legislators and keep these important conversations moving forward.

I’ve never questioned where Jim stands. He’s a constitutional conservative who believes in limited government, individual liberty, medical freedom, and fiscal responsibility. More importantly, he has the integrity to stand by those principles, even when it’s difficult.

As the former Deputy Chief of Staff for the House, I’ve had a front-row seat to what it takes to successfully lead our institution. Over the past six years, I worked more closely with the Speaker than anyone else—legislator or staff. I know what the job requires, and I know who is prepared to do it.

Jim Kofalt has spent years preparing for this responsibility through local public service, recruiting and mentoring conservative candidates, training new legislators, and serving in increasing leadership roles both inside and outside the House.

From day one, there was no learning curve. Jim came to every leadership meeting prepared, informed, and ready to work. When difficult issues arose and the room fell quiet, Jim stepped up. He framed the problem, moved the discussion forward, volunteered to take the lead, and made sure the job got done.

One moment stands out to me in particular. Before one of the most important budget votes of the session, our caucus was deeply divided, and there was real concern about whether we could come together. When leadership was needed, Jim stepped in, listened to members, found common ground, and helped bring the caucus together when it mattered most.

While serving on two of the House’s busiest committees (Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs and Education Finance), Jim also served as Speaker Packard’s trusted partner and backup, covering for the Speaker both in state and out, carrying out both the public responsibilities of the office and the countless day-to-day duties that keep the House functioning effectively.

He understands the office because he’s already been doing the work.

At times when Jim was left out of important leadership decisions or discussions by some, he handled it directly, professionally and diplomatically, always insisting on improving operations, relationships, and communication.

One of the things I admire most about Jim is the way he treats people. He doesn’t engage in gossip or negative conversations about fellow members. Instead, he insists on productive discussions and respectful disagreement. Jim believes in talking with people, not about them, and he shows the same respect for members whether they’re in the room or not. That matters.

Lastly, Jim isn’t running for Speaker because he wants the title. He’s running because he believes in this institution. He understands the divisions within our caucus and wants to restore the culture that has long made the New Hampshire House unique—a place where members can disagree passionately on policy and still respect one another as colleagues.
The Speaker’s office is too important to the future of our House and our caucus to leave to chance.

Jim Kofalt is the most qualified, the best prepared, and has the experience, judgment, temperament, and unifying leadership our House needs.

When that has happened, I’ve appreciated the way Jim approaches conversations. Once, when Republicans on our committee were divided, Jim came in to speak with our caucus. I was one of the holdouts on the issue, but Jim never tried to strong-arm or bully anyone into agreement. He understands that leadership isn’t about shutting people down; it’s about making sure that every perspective can be heard, while staying true to our conservative principles.

Jim was firm in his position, but he was also willing to listen to mine. He understands that we all come to the table with our own unique perspectives, and he respects that. Jim takes a principled stand, but he is also willing to work with people who may see things differently. To the Members and Candidates of the New Hampshire House of Representatives:

My name is Shannon Buttermore. I have lived with kidney disease since I was a little girl.

I lost my kidney function in 2021 after the flu shot, but gained it back. In 2024, I lost my kidney function a second time after the flu shot. I then made the personal decision not to put more vaccinations into my body, including the COVID vax. Because I declined, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center denied me the chance even to be listed for transplant.

That is when I started my fight with the help of Jim Kofalt (and Melissa Blasek and SpeakerPackard).
Thanks to Melissa, Jim, and other legislators who were champions for medical freedom at the time, New Hampshire had recently passed a law stating a patient shall not be denied care based solely on vaccination status. Thank you, all.

The hospital was ignoring that law. And, frankly, at that time, I was losing all hope.

My issue got to Jim, and he reached out to me personally. He took the time to listen. He took the time to understand what the hospital had done to me. Then he brought my story to House leadership and would not let it die there.

I know there were so many other priorities to focus on at the time. But Jim introduced me to Speaker Packard. 

He drafted a letter to Dartmouth Hitchcock for the Speaker to sign. He followed through. He took the time. He spoke with Dartmouth Hitchcock on my behalf.

He gave me hope in my time of need... when I was losing it.

He had no reason to do so... other than compassion... and to fight for freedom, including medical freedom.

Soon after, the Attorney General's Office engaged, and Dartmouth Hitchcock agreed to let patients like me apply without the COVID shot.

Without Jim making this a priority and putting it in front of the Speaker—and without Speaker Packard's willingness to stand up for fairness and patient rights—I do not know where I would be today.

I am currently seven months post-transplant now and feeling AMAZING!

Being a leader isn't about credit or title. Jim just does what is right. Always.

I am asking this House to elect Jim Kofalt Speaker.
We need someone who cares. Someone who will listen to the little guy when there's no one watching and no gain in helping out. We need someone who doesn't give up and does not walk away. Someone who does what he says he'll do.

My faith and my service as a Marine have taught me the importance of standing for what is right, even when it is not the easy thing to do. That is one of the reasons I support Jim Kofalt for Speaker.

Recently, by invitation, I had the pleasure of attending a House Party in honor of Representative Jim Kofalt for Speaker. Through the 603 Alliance, Jim has been helping me with different issues to help my campaign. This was the first time I met him in person and enjoyed the conversations we had on different items. I learned that Jim was very knowledgeable concerning the responsibility of being the Speaker of the House. Leading is about the “why.” Great leaders inspire and guide others toward a shared vision or goal. They focus on creating a sense of organizational purpose and motivating others to work toward it. Leaders are also responsible for creating a healthy workplace culture and fostering a shared identity among team members.

People follow great leaders because they possess certain qualities that inspire trust and confidence. Acting with integrity, a sense of purpose, making difficult decisions, and expressing genuine concern for others are signs of a great leader that others want to follow. 

Being humble is also a sign of heightened emotional intelligence. It’s also one of the signs of a great leader that Jim displayed during his team member’s presentation at the House Party. Treating others as equals, recognizing that he may not always have the answers and is open to learning from others. 
Great leaders like Jim, invest time in getting to know their teams and showing genuine care for others. They ask about passions, interests, and values. This deeper understanding helps leaders delegate based on team member strengths and development goals, laying the groundwork for professional and personal growth.

All of the qualities of a great leader mentioned above, is the reason I will stand with Jim Kofalt and vote for him to be our next Speaker of the House.

It is with great pleasure that I endorse Jim Kofalt to be the next Republican Speaker of the New Hampshire House of Representatives. 

Jim is an intelligent, thoughtful, and natural leader who is not afraid to take responsibility when difficult decisions need to be made. He brings common sense to complicated issues and has a genuine ability to bring people together. He will work hard to ensure that, when Republican legislative priorities are set, they actually represent views that a strong consensus of House Republicans can stand behind and defend among our colleagues and with the public.

Effective leadership requires earning respect, working constructively with colleagues, and treating institutions with the seriousness they deserve. Jim understands that the House is an equal partner in New Hampshire’s government and that productive relationships with House members, the Senate, and the Governor are essential to accomplishing meaningful work.

In my experience, conflict often produces more conflict. Jim has the temperament and judgment to lower the temperature, restore productive dialogue, and help people focus on the work before them.

ENDORSEMENT JIM KOFALT as NH House Speaker

I am a first-time candidate for NH State Representative, but not new to knowing what makes a great leader. I have worked as a lead engineer for 40 years, served my country as a senior military officer in the National Guard, served as a Captain on a Call/Per-Diem Fire Department, work as a Town Moderator and have led Scouts for decades. Each of those experiences has taught me something about leadership and, just as importantly, what I want and expect from a leader.

I met Representative Jim Kofalt while attending a series of educational meetings he hosted for first-time House candidates to learn about major issues in NH. Jim Kofalt is sincere, personable and likeable.

My father, the late Honorable Norman L. Major, was a very wise and long-term member and committee chair. I was fortunate to enjoy decades of time listening to dad talk of how to be effective and relevant in the NH House. Dad was an engineer and a man who let the numbers speak for themselves; his budget revenue estimates were the best. Many of the House Speakers, Senate Presidents and Governors of the last 30 years, listened to his estimates, good or bad, to make educated decisions for NH. I believe Jim Kofalt will exhibit that type of informed leadership.

Jim Kofalt is what I consider to be a servant-leader; he has the vision, the temperament and the character to lead the NH House at a time when our constituents are demanding less political polarization.

As a first-time candidate, I have found Jim Kofalt to be an educator, a mentor and a great listener. Some of our greatest accomplishments as a nation have been when leaders allow input from those with differing opinions. It helps to build consensus and prevents a pendulum effect when leadership changes.

I firmly believe Representative Jim Kofalt is the best choice to lead the New Hampshire House, and I am proud to support him.

Jim and I served together on a Committee on Commissions, and through that experience I came to appreciate his thoughtful, practical, and pragmatic approach.

He genuinely wants to see the people around him succeed. He takes the time to help members develop their abilities, understand the legislative process, accomplish their goals, and become better legislators.

As a West Point graduate, I have always understood the importance of service, leadership, discipline, and putting the mission ahead of yourself. Jim’s father was also a West Point graduate, so that gave us a connection beyond politics. I write to recommend Representative Jim Kofalt of Wilton for Speaker of the New Hampshire House.

Jim is in his third term representing Wilton, Temple, and New Ipswich. He has already served as Deputy Majority Leader, Advisor to the Speaker, and Speaker Pro Tempore. He has taken the gavel, kept the House moving, and shown he can preside with composure.

He understands how this body actually works. He has served on Rules as well as Health and Human Services and Elderly Affairs. He knows committee process, floor management, and the difference between making a point and getting a result. His professional background in business and product leadership shows in how he approaches problems: practical, organized, and focused on what can pass and hold.

Jim has been clear about the kind of House he wants: transparent, respectful, and effective. For Republicans that matters. A Speaker has to run a fair process, keep faith with the caucus, and still produce results the public can see. Members should know where bills stand, why decisions are made, and that the rules apply evenly. Accountability is not a slogan. It is how a majority keeps its majority and earns the next one.

He has a consistent conservative record and strong ratings from groups that measure limited government, taxpayers, and constitutional principles. He has also worked to train and support Republican candidates. That combination—reliable votes, institutional competence, and investment in the team—is what the speakership requires.

I ask you to support Jim Kofalt for Speaker. He will treat members with respect, run an open and accountable process, and keep the Republican House focused on delivering for New Hampshire.

I spent 16 years serving on the Children and Family Law Committee because I believed it was one of the most important committees in the Legislature when it came to protecting liberty and the rights of families. If you can threaten parents’ relationship with their children, you can manipulate them to do most anything you want. I have watched Jim take those same issues seriously and put in the work necessary to understand them and move them forward.

Jim understands that protecting children and families is not simply about passing legislation. It requires understanding the Constitution, respecting individual rights, and making sure our laws actually serve the people they are intended to protect.

Having spent many years studying and working with both the New Hampshire and United States Constitutions, and as the only Chairman of a legislative Committee on Constitutional Review in the 21st Century, I place a high value on leaders who understand the importance of constitutional government. Jim has demonstrated that he shares that commitment.

I have also seen Jim’s integrity and his ability to get things done. He does not simply talk about important issues. He puts in the time, works through the details, and follows through. His work on children and family issues is a good example of that.

I support Jim Kofalt for Speaker because I believe he will make these issues a priority. I have confidence that he will lead with integrity, respect the Constitution, and turn his commitment to children and families into meaningful action.
